When smoke blocked the sun
and the grey skies were dreary
my sunflower bloomed
It’s a relief to see some blue sky again after the oppressive days of smoke. Best wishes to all who are suffering because of the wildfires. I hope the rain will also wash away your somber skies and bring back the sun! 🌞
Feathery pinwheels–
if we look the other way,
will they start to dance?
“Always” and “never”–
are there any other words
which cause so much pain?
Bare New Year’s branches
Bereft of last year’s splendour
Grasp the grisly sky
Some days are crazy
but flowers bloom, stars shine
and the baby smiles.
She tore through Paris
lighting up the street corners
with her flashing smile

Quiet pink crescents
Flutter against blue sky
Joy in a soft breeze
Of course it would be
the day cleaners came and mopped
that pickle juice spilled
That’s life, Mom!
Dry corn stalks stick up–
the skeleton of summer
revealing past warmth.
There is nothing like
strolling in sweet solitude
shortly before dusk
Just East Of Crazy Land
